Top Bay Area Cities for Local Relocation
As moving and storage experts in the Bay Area, we love to celebrate our region’s diversity, hidden treasures, green space, awesome climate, friendly vibe, and booming economy.
Whether you’re heading to Northern California to take a job with a start up; or you’re moving your family out of Los Angeles (finally) to a cleaner, less smoggy environment, you can choose from a variety of very good places to live up here. In fact, Livability.com just released its list of best places to live (2014 edition), and Palo Alto came out as number one. Hayward, Antioch, Fairfield, Berkeley, Fremont, and the South Bay Area also made Livability.com’s top 100 list.
San Francisco ranked pretty high as well – number 67 in the country – despite diverse challenges facing parts of the city (e.g. climbing costs of living. In fact, SF is one of the most expensive cities in the nation to raise kids — perhaps a consequence of the soaring prices of soy lattes and vegan cupcakes?). Yet SF remains the beating heart of America’s progressive movement as well as a major epicenter of the techo-economy, and it’s a genuinely beautiful, historic city.
Many folks might overlook the potential of Oakland, given the city’s less than stellar crime rate and the Raiders’ less-than-perfect performance over the last few seasons. However, Oakland actually ranked #84 in the Livability.com survey. It’s a surprisingly cool and family-friendly city, with a diverse selection of parks, museums, trendy restaurants, and community activities.
